Assistance on library
use and information retrieval is provided by Reference Librarians, Reference
Staff and highly trained students. You may ask questions in person at
the information desk, over the phone at (870) 972-3208, or email a Reference Librarian.
You may also schedule a personal consultation with a librarian for more in-depth research needs. Contact the Reference Desk at 972-3208 to schedule a personal consultation. You will find more
information about Reference
Assistance at the Research and Information Services web page.
Librarians collaborate
with instructors to provide customized library and information literacy instruction
for courses. These sessions generally cover research skills, using the library catalog and databases, using reference books and print resources, and evaluating information. The sessions can be held in the Library's classrooms or in other locations. To schedule a session contact Robin Payne or call the Reference Desk at (870) 972-3208.
Faculty may check out 50 materials at a time for the length of one
semester. Periodicals may be checked out for 24 hours. If you need
materials that are checked out by another patron, you may request a hold or
recall with your ASU ID at the Circulation Desk. If you place a hold on a
material, you will be notified when it is returned and it will be held for you
at the Circulation Desk. If you recall a book, the patron who currently
has the book checked-out will be given a new due date and the book will be held
for you at the Circulation Desk.
Materials needed by an entire class my be placed on reserve for one hour, two hours or twenty-four
hours. The reserve collection is kept at the Circulation Desk and is searchable in the
library's online catalog and you can determine if you would like students to be allowed
to take the materials out of the library.
To place materials
on Reserve, bring the Reserve materials to the Circulation Desk. You will
need to fill out a Reserve Request form. You may download a copy of the Reserve
Request form in Word format. Materials that are photocopied should
comply with copyright laws.

by logging into the online catalog and choosing the "Requests" option.
You may request as many items as you wish, but the Resource Sharing Department
will process up to ten requests from an individual at one time.

number.

Department web pages.
Requests for materials can be made by any faculty member via the online request form. If you have questions regarding materials requests you can reach the Acquisitions Department by calling (870) 972-3077. The department's hours are 7:30am-5:00pm Monday through Friday.
If there is an item that you need quickly, please state the time frame within which you need it.
The quicker it comes, the more it costs, so please take that into consideration.
We will contact you when your rush order arrives.
Each academic department is allocated money from the library's budget. When your requests are ordered, we will use money from your departmental allocation to purchase the material.
Requests for expensive materials or serials may be dependent upon approval from
the Department Chair or Departmental Library Representative.
