Federal Depository Library Program at the Dean B. Ellis Library
The ASU Library was designated a federal depository library in 1913, and it is believed that Thaddeus H. Caraway, Congressman from Jonesboro in the U.S. House of Representatives at that time, was responsible for securing depository library status for ASU. The ASU Library is one of 1,270 federal depository libraries throughout America that provide free access to the information resources of the federal government, and it is one of 14 federal depository libraries in the state of Arkansas. The Library's collection contains more than 100,000 U.S. government publications, in print, microform, DVD/CD, and electronic formats.
The ASU Library also is a state depository library for government publications from the Arkansas state government. The Library has served as a state depository since its designation as one of the first state depositories in 1980. The Library's collection contains more than 25,000 government publications from the legislative, executive and judicial branches of the Arkansas state government.
